We all experience fear from time to time, yet we each react to things differently, based on our genes, our family conditioning and our beliefs. Some people find it exciting to move out of their comfort zone, while for other people this can feel life-threatening.
If you suffer from panic attacks, dread the thought of flying, or just feel that you worry about things too much, we can help.
As children, sometimes we experienced unpleasant situations. Our young minds coped by 'bottling up' our emotions, rather than expressing them. Faced with a particularly traumatic event, the chances are we buried that memory so deeply that today we have no conscious recollection of it.
Yet this buried memory is responsible for our inexplicable reaction to whatever we fear. It is a defence mechanism to try and prevent us from returning to a threatening situation. This might seem a good thing, except that our minds work in strange ways! For example, a fear of flying is actually quite unlikely to have been caused by anything to do with an aeroplane. More probably this will be a fear of loss of control.
Working with you confidentially, we will help you discover the root cause of your anxiety, so that with your adult understanding you can change your mind about it. This can often be achieved in just one session, although some deep-rooted phobias may take several sessions to overcome permanently.
